A total of 13 workers were injured in a sudden and powerful explosion at an iron and steel factory, two of whom were said to be in critical condition.

The powerful blast was recorded by surveillance cameras at the Tosyali Iron and Steel Factory in Iskenderun, in southern Turkey, on 8th November.

CCTV footage shows nearly a dozen male workers gathered around a metal construction, seemingly trying to resolve some issue.

Suddenly, a violent explosion erupted, and a massive ball of fire engulfed the whole area.

The workers ducked to cover their faces and then began running for their lives, with two men who stood closest to the source of the blast tripping and falling to the floor.

Moments later, they managed to get back on their feet and escape.

Emergency services were later alerted and they rushed to the factory.

The blast reportedly resulted in 13 workers getting injured. Two of them sustained severe burns and are currently hospitalised in a critical condition.

So far, the cause of the explosion remains unknown.

An investigation has been launched by the prosecutor’s office.

This was reportedly not the first explosion to happen at the factory.

Just two months ago, a similar incident reportedly left four workers injured.
