Ali Cilga, 65, was on vacation with his family at the five-star hotel in Manavgat, Antalya Province, southwestern Turkey.

CCTV footage shows the elderly holidaymaker going down headfirst on the luxury resort’s long slide. He stays underwater after hitting his head on the pool’s concrete floor.

Several swimmers pass by oblivious before two tourists eventually notice him around one minute after he went down the slide.

Another man – presumably the hotel’s on-duty lifeguard – can be seen approaching quickly after jumping into the water.

They lay Ali down next to the pool before starting their resuscitation attempts.

He died one week after the accident, on 3rd July.

Local media report that Ali was warned by the pool lifeguard not to slide down headfirst.

The Manavgat Public Prosecution ordered an autopsy of Ali’s body at the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute.

The investigation continues.
