This young woman killed herself after learning that her boyfriend had shot himself in the head after stabbing his own cousin in the neck in a jealous row over her.
Jealous Salihcan Kaya flew into a rage when he learnt that his own cousin, Serhat Kaya, had fallen head over heels in love with his girlfriend, Havva Bayrak.
Furious Salihcan, 21, grabbed a knife and headed out in Ozkurtun, Turkey, searching for Serhat.
After finding him in the street, the two began arguing bitterly, but the row escalated when Salihcan pulled the blade and plunged it into his 20-year-old rival’s neck.
As Serhat collapsed in a heap covered in blood, horrified witnesses called for an ambulance, which took the wounded young man to Kurtun State Hospital.
He was later transferred to a larger hospital in Trabzon with life-threatening injuries.
Salihcan, meanwhile, fled the scene and ran home to tell his parents what he had done.
Believing he had killed his cousin, he grabbed a gun in front of his horrified parents and shot himself in the head.
He, too, was rushed to Kurtun State Hospital, but medics were unable to save his life.
His girlfriend, Havva Bayrak, was at home when she heard about the horror that had just unfolded.
She was so devastated by the news that she also grabbed a gun and shot herself in the head, killing herself immediately.
The victims’ bodies were autopsied and laid to rest in Ozkurtun on 4th September, local media report.
Havva’s devastated dad, Salih Bayrak, said through tears at his daughter’s funeral: “The flower of my pasture has gone.”
