This is the shocking moment a man is hit by a stray bullet while drinking tea with his friends.
The incident occurred in the Tepekum neighbourhood, Adapazari district, in Sakarya province in Turkey, on Sunday, 30th July, around 6:30pm.
Hakan Mutlu, age not disclosed, was struck by a stray bullet fired from a firearm whose origin has not yet been determined.
CCTV footage captured the moment, revealing him in distress, trying to understand what had just happened to him after being hit.
Mutlu, baffled by a sudden sensation of pain, is seen quickly standing up and removing his shirt while asking his friends to check his back.
After his friends’ told him he had been shot, emergency medical teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Mutlu was taken to the hospital by ambulance and received treatment. He was later discharged.
Mutlu stated that he heard seven to eight gunshots before being hit by the bullet and said: “At first, I thought something had bitten me. Firearms should be used in shooting ranges. Such incidents should not happen in our country.
“I was lucky to escape with minor injuries, but the consequences could have been far worse for a child.”
Hakan Mutlu’s mother, Yildiz Mutlu, 65, expressed her desire for an immediate end to such incidents. She stated, “Enough is enough. Due to the sound of gunshots, we can’t even step out on our balcony anymore. Who can we look to to protect us and our loved ones?
“My son almost lost his life due to a stray bullet. Let these incidents come to an end once and for all. I am still in shock and can’t seem to gather myself together. What would I have done if something had happened to my only son.”
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident, which is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
