Horrified staff at the hotel found victim Ayan Dhoba dead in the British couple’s room in Istanbul on 14th November.

Staff had let themselves into room 111 after hearing screams and found Ayan lying in a pool of blood with 41 stab wounds all over her neck and body.

Police found her 28-year-old husband, named only as Ahmet Yasin M., wearing a blood-stained T-shirt after a day-long search.

Officers said Ayan’s husband confessed to stabbing his wife.

He claimed that he attacked the victim after she offered him drugs, which led to an argument between them.

Local media reports that he stabbed her repeatedly with the tool before finishing her off by driving it into her head, and then threw it in the loo.

Police later searched the hotel bathroom and found the murder weapon right where the suspect said it would be.

The couple, both British nationals, had reportedly arrived in Istanbul from England three days earlier for holiday.

It is unclear how Ahmet acquired the screwdriver which he used to murder his wife.

Police also did not say if they discovered the alleged drugs the victim supposedly had.

The investigation is ongoing.
