A beautiful influencer has revealed how her jealous husband told her he would kill her “as an example to all women” before stabbing her 58 times.
Victim Merve Yildirim told prosecutors in Istanbul, Turkey, that she and her husband Yunus Yildirim had been arguing on a regular basis ahead of the near-fatal attack of 4th August.
Having been married for just a year, Yunus had accused the 32-year-old fashion and make-up blogger of having an affair.
In her statement to the prosecutors, which was published by local media on 15th November, Merve recalled the horrendous assault she miraculously survived.
That morning, Yunus once again accused his wife of infidelity. Infuriated, the suspect took a kitchen knife and locked Merve in the bedroom.
Merve told investigators: “We argued for two hours. He came from the kitchen with a knife. He threw my phone into the hallway and locked the bedroom door.”
She added: “He then told me: ‘You are betraying me. I will kill you here today. I have been planning this for a long time. You will be an example to all women. No one will be able to save you from here.'”
Merve reportedly tried to wrap herself in the duvet to find protection from his relentless stabbing fury.
She told prosecutors: “After a while, he thought I was dead and stopped stabbing me. Before I fainted, I begged him to call an ambulance.
“There are a total of 58 stab wounds on my body. Around 20 of them are on my neck.”
After having spent several days in intensive care, the popular influencer managed to make a full recovery. She started posting fashion and make-up snaps shortly after the traumatic incident.
Yunus reportedly told investigators he had been deceived and could not remember what happened.
Local media quoted the suspect as saying: “When I came to, my wife was covered in blood. I could not understand how I harmed her.”
Prosecutors accuse him of having focused on areas where vital organs are located.
A spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office said: “A cold-bloodedness is observed in the person who kills by premeditation. The fact that this person did not feel any excitement while killing someone else shows his mental evil.
“It is clear that he acted with the intent to kill.”
The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office is calling for a 34-year prison term for her 31-year-old husband who has been arrested and remains in custody.
Around two weeks after the attack, Merve went to social media to thank her friends and followers.
The blonde fashion and make-up expert said: “Your prayers and love have reached me. Thank you so much. I miraculously survived.”
But Merve admitted: “It will take time for me to be like before.”
The influencer, who has 168,000 subscribers on YouTube and 96,000 Instagram followers, has received hundreds of supportive messages from her fans.
Follower ‘OztepSeher’ said: “Get well soon. As women, we are always with you. You are not alone!”
User ‘Ner_Sahin’ added: “You will always shine. You will be much better than this, Merve!”
