A bogus medic whose patient died after he injected her with fillers in her hip is facing up to nine years behind bars after being found guilty of negligence.
Victim Kubra Boyraz, 38, collapsed after the treatment at accused Oner Ozsoyeri’s unlicensed clinic in Turkey. Clinics that offer the surgery boast it will provide firmer, larger buttocks and hips.
Judges at Istanbul Criminal Court blamed the bogus medic and another employee for Kubra’s agonising death.
Prosecutors had told the court he had no medical training or even routine instructions on how to carry out the procedure.
Chilling security camera footage seen by the court shows Kubra walking zombie-like after the hip procedure in September 2020.
As she staggers through the clinic’s reception, two members of staff hold onto her arms and two more walk behind her.
More footage from cameras outside the clinic show Kubra being bundled into the back of a car before she is driven home.
When she got there, the court heard she was “struggling to speak” and “unwell”.
Kubra was rushed to hospital after her condition worsened and died in hospital a short while later, said prosecutors.
Police later tracked down the centre using the victim’s phone and reviewed CCTV.
An autopsy revealed that she died after the filler injections blocked her blood vessels.
And it concluded that the fillers used were never meant to be used that way.
Two months earlier, it emerged she had undergone an earlier filler procedure to give her fuller lips.
Ozsoyeri and an employee named Erdal Dogruya were found guilty of willful negligence by the court.
Judges are now considering the sentences for the pair.
