An American surgery tourist has died after a liposuction operation and a hair transplant in Turkey.
Victim Cleopatra Mae Denms, 46, underwent a fat-busting op and transplant at the same clinic in Esenyurt municipality, in Istanbul province last month.
Local media reported that she travelled to Esenyurt on 22nd August to undergo the operations and was kept under observation as a precautionary measure.
She was operated on 26th August, according to local media.
But when her condition worsened two days later, she was rushed to hospital where she died.
Bafflingly staff at the clinic where the procedures were carried out deny that Demns was a patient there.
Prosecutors have ordered an autopsy to establish her cause of death.
The investigation is ongoing.
Plastic surgery is reportedly 90 per cent cheaper in Turkey than in the United States, with medical tourists regularly making the trip in a bid to save money.
It is often cheaper for American tourists to travel to Turkey and other countries for operations than it is to stay home and have the operations there.
Millions of Americans travel abroad for medical procedures every year, according to Bloomberg.
