Cruel Saparmurat Haliyev, dubbed the “Izmir butcher” by local media, is believed to have killed his victims in revenge for an alleged betrayal.

He allegedly hacked his victims to pieces and stored the body parts in a freezer at the home they all shared in the Bayrakli district.

Now, new, gruesome details have come to light telling how Haliyev, 60, chopped his girlfriend, Gulkamar Hanymova, into 71 pieces.

He also allegedly hacked her eldest daughter’s boyfriend, Ruslan Kerimov, into 42 different parts.

The daughters themselves, 30-year-old Leyla Geldiyazova and 28-year-old Lacin Geldiyazova, were also chopped up by the ex-butcher.

In total, 121 body parts were retrieved from the crime scene.

They were sent to the Izmir Institute of Forensic Medicine, where forensic experts worked non-stop for two days determining which parts belonged to each victim.

The harrowing crime was discovered after M.H., a Turkmen national residing in Istanbul, told the police that he had not heard from the family in five days.

After entering the property with the help of a locksmith on 18th June, officers opened the freezer and came across the grim scene.

During the subsequent investigation, the police learnt that Hanymova and her daughters had moved to Turkey from Turkmenistan in 2019 to work as caregivers.

Officers were able to quickly identify Haliyev, also a Turkmen national, as the prime suspect.

Following the crime, he had fled to an area of woodland in Cesme district, but he was arrested on a construction site days later after leaving in search of food.

He reportedly confessed during questioning: “Before the incident, I had told my girlfriend Gulkamar, ‘If you betray me, I will cut you and your daughters into pieces.’

“She betrayed me. That’s why I committed the murders. They all came to the house separately. I killed them one by one.”

The police also seized Afghan citizen H.G.H., Turkmenistan citizen H.P., and Turkish citizen M.A. on suspicion of aiding and abetting the crime.

Earlier reports told how Haliyev allegedly put his victims to sleep by spiking their drinks before butchering them.

It remains unclear whether they were alive or dead when he started chopping them up.

Earlier reports also told how the Turkmen national had asked local shopkeepers where he could buy a deep freezer days before the crime.
