An 18-year-old girl who shot her gun-mad boyfriend in the head while she played with one of his pistols has been seized by police.

Heavily tattooed Mirac Bulat, 22, liked to play up to a gangsta lifestyle of limos and guns and often posted photos of him posing with his armoury on social media.

But he died by one of his own handguns when his girlfriend, named only as Meryem O., killed him with a single bullet as she handled the weapon in Yunus Emre, Turkey.

Paramedics rushed him to hospital after the 30th September shooting but he was declared dead soon after arrival.

Police have not explained whether they are investigating an accidental shooting or a suspected murder.

Gun laws in Turkey are lax compared to the UK.

People are allowed to own handguns, rifles and shotguns as long as they have the legal ownership and carry permits.

Only military-style automatic and semi-automatic weapons are banned from public ownership.

One in three households in Turkey possesses a firearm, and experts estimate that a substantial 90 per cent are unlicensed.

The highest concentration of firearm ownership is among young adults aged around 25.
