Arrested Rifat Yilmaz, 26, is suspected of killing 21-year-old Dudu Yilmaz in a boarding house apartment in the town of Urla, in Izmir Province, in western Turkey.

The pair had reportedly stayed at the place for three days after Rifat begged his wife for another chance.

Dudu left Rifat more than three months prior to her death. She reportedly wanted to file for divorce. They had tied the knot in November 2022.

Her lifeless body was found in their room by police officers on 16th June. The cops were called in by employees of the hostel who had grown suspicious for not having seen the pair for some time.

Dudu – who had the cable of a hairdryer around her neck – was pronounced dead by emergency paramedics at the scene.

Police searched for her husband. Investigators questioned Rifat – a pitta bread baker – and then put him into custody.

Local media say Rifat convinced Dudu to spend a short vacation at the sea together in a last attempt to rescue their marriage.

Dudu – a waitress – had already moved back in with her family in Corum, Anatolia, northern Turkey.

Rifat and Dudu had reportedly lived in a rented house in Izmir Province.

An autopsy has been carried out but the authorities have not yet presented its result.

It is unclear whether Rifat has already been charged.

Investigations into the case continue.
