A pervert police chief caught on CCTV cameras taking upskirt photos of women in a supermarket had been jailed for six years.

Sick Serkan Erdogan was recorded stalking a shop assistant with his phone while she was checking food sell-by dates at a store in Istanbul, Turkey.

In the security camera footage seen by the court, Erdogan, a police commissioner, is seen crouching behind the woman and holding his phone under her ankle-length skirt.

Without her noticing he turned quickly away and pretended to be looking at things on another shelf.

But another employee, identified only as F.B., spotted him and reported the incident to the police.

A second female worker, who was not named, said she saw him wandering around the store with his phone acting strange.

When police arrested Erdogan they found a stomach-churning stash of child pornography on his computer, a court heard.

Erdogan has been charged with sexual harassment and smuggling, reproducing, selling, storing, and using obscene products involving the use of children.

The charges carry a maximum sentence of 17 years behind bars.

But judges at Istanbul Kagithane District Court jailed him for just six years and three months because of his “clean record” and “good behaviour during the hearings”.

He was also fined TRY 16,660 (GBP 450).
