Police in Turkey have arrested a mum of three for shooting her husband dead with a double-barrelled shotgun during an argument.
Ayse Isik was arrested on suspicion of murder after she allegedly shot her husband, Ismail Isik, dead during a row in Duger – a village in Burdur District – on 28th May.
The shotgun was kept by the couple at the family home.
The reasons for the argument were unknown at the time of reporting.
After being hit by pellets, 32-year-old Ismail fell to the ground, prompting Ayse to call for an ambulance. She reportedly admitted to the emergency services that she had shot him.
Paramedics rushed to the scene but could only pronounce Ismail dead. His body was later taken to the morgue of Burdur State Hospital.
Ayse, 28, was arrested and taken to Hacilar Gendarmerie Station. She chose to exercise her right to remain silent during questioning by the gendarmerie, the prosecutor’s office, and the criminal court.
She is now being held on remand in Burdur Type-E Closed Prison.
The couple had been married for 10 years and had three children, who are now being cared for by other relatives.
Ismail’s funeral was held in Duger on 29th May.
The investigation is ongoing.
