He was later retrieved lifeless by divers.

The victim has been named as Pakistani-born British citizen Noor Wali, 43, and he was on holiday with his family in Manavgat, in Antalya Province, in Turkey, participating in an organised tour.

Noor reportedly entered the Manavgat River from a pier near a riverside restaurant and can be seen struggling in the CCTV video before disappearing beneath the water’s surface.

The local gendarmerie and fire department were dispatched to the scene, as well as medics, with divers then entering the water due to a lack of visibility.

Noor’s body was sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy.

It is currently unclear why the British tourist drowned and the investigation is ongoing.

Antalya Province, in south-western Turkey, is the centre of the country’s tourism industry and accounts for about 30 per cent of foreign tourists visiting the country.
