Suspect Emine Aka, 40, is said to have killed antique carpet dealer Emrah Aka, 42, as they argued at the family home in the Fatih neighbourhood in the city of Usak, in western Turkey, on Saturday, 5th August, at 3am.

Terrified neighbours called the police after hearing blood-curdling screams and shouts coming from the couple’s apartment.

Photographs published in local media show the couple in happier times on their wedding day earlier this year.

Officers went to the couple’s home and rushed Emrah to the Usak Training and Research Hospital but he died soon after arrival.

His wife was arrested for the killing and reportedly told police the row had begun in a fit of jealousy.

She has been remanded in custody.

The violent end to the couple’s marriage shocked social media users.

One ‘Ismail Yigit’ said: “Look at the pictures, at how happy they looked, the result is a pity.”

And ‘Murat Dogan’ said: “People are becoming more and more intolerant, it is better to be patient.”
