This is the moment passengers aboard a ferry caught in the middle of a severe storm scream in terror as water floods over the floor, and each sway of the vessel makes them fear it might tip over and drown them.

The ferry was reportedly travelling across the Sea of Marmara, a small inland sea located within the borders of Turkey, when it encountered a violent storm at around 03:00 pm on 27th July.

Dozens of passengers had set off from Avsa Island on board the ferry that was travelling towards Istanbul, the country’s largest city, on a small excursion when the storm hit.

Many of them felt seasick due to the large waves relentlessly rocking the ship back and forth.

Phone footage shows other passengers clinging to their seats, with many children crying and women screaming as the ferry gets battered by the sea waves.

Loud screams of terror sound across the cabin with each sway that the passengers feared was likely to overturn the vessel.

Meanwhile, crew members are seen carefully walking around as they hand out bottles of water and try to calm everyone down.

The ship’s captain reportedly had to give four announcements asking the passengers to settle down but to no effect.

Six of the passengers reportedly suffered from extreme sea sickness, but after a trip that lasted an hour longer than usual because of the storm the captain managed to deliver the ferry to the seaport.

In his last announcement, he reportedly said he has never encountered anything similar in his 15 years of seafare.

No injuries have been reported.
