This is the Hercule Parrot moment when a devoted owner tracks down his lost cockatiel and uses a crane to rescue it from a tower block window ledge.

The parrot – called Lemon – had left the family heartbroken when it flew out of the window of their home in the Yurt neighbourhood, in the city of Adana in southern Turkey.

But when they found it perched on a nearby fourth-floor window cill the dad – not named in local media – flew into action.

When he tried simply knocking on the apartment door nobody answered.

So the dad – who rents out construction site machinery – set up a giant cherry picker which a pal operated from the ground.

Then he is hoisted 60 feet into the air so the cage can get level with the runaway bird.

In footage of the high-rise rescue, the dad can be seen directing the operator to inch closer to Lemon perched on the sill.

Then – as he gets in range – the bird shuffles away along the ledge until its owner gently grabs it and loads it into a ca ie before the footage runs out.

The cockatiel (Nymphicus hollandicus) is a relatively small-sized parrot that is praised as a household pet across the whole world.
