This footage shows the moment a bus driver suffers a heart attack on a motorway as his passengers desperately grab the steering wheel in a bid to avoid a crash.

The incident took place on the Malatya-Kayseri motorway in the town of Kurecik, in the province of Malatya, in Turkey, on Monday, 20th November.

The bus driver, identified as Suleyman Ekici, 66, can be seen in the footage driving the bus, reportedly with 25 passengers on board.

Seconds later, Ekici can be seen slumping in his seat as he falls limp after suffering what was later determined to be a heart attack.

He can be seen with his head falling to the side as the bus threatens to veer off the road.

Immediately, his co-pilot, identified as Ufuk Yel, who was on his phone, can be seen grabbing hold of the steering wheel in a bid to avoid the large vehicle crashing.

He and another passenger, unnamed, can be seen trying to control the vehicle while unfastening the driver’s seatbelt.

Other passengers can then be seen helping them as they begin to bring the bus to a stop.

After the vehicle is brought to a halt, the passengers can then be seen helping the unconscious driver out of his seat and out of the bus as the footage ends.

The co-pilot and other passengers then attempted to revive the driver by the roadside but were unsuccessful.

They took Ekici to Akcadag Martyr Gokhan State Hospital, where he was declared dead from a heart attack, according to reports.
