Mission Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie, currently in Turkey filming part two of the latest film in the series, has scrapped plans to film in Istanbul’s spectacular Grand Bazaar after a trader leaked CCTV footage of him inside the building to the press.

A strict confidentiality deal had been signed guaranteeing that the details of the film will be kept private, and on the Sunday when the building was closed, Tom Cruise and McQuarrie had been given exclusive access for a private tour to decide whether it was suitable to be used in the film.

A contract which would have meant fantastic exposure for the traders, however, was cancelled two days later when the CCTV footage of the film crew walking around the bazaar was leaked by a trader.

The Academy Award-winning director McQuarrie was reportedly furious that the footage had been leaked in spite of the confidentiality agreement with the managers at the Kapalicarsi (Grand Bazaar) and announced that the plans were scrapped.

The footage that was leaked showed the team as they wandered through the bustling corridors of the historic bazaar.

McQuarrie cited breach of the confidentiality agreement as the reason for his decision.

It is not revealed whether there were other parts of the country that will be used for the film.
